The shoes are finally here — after a long trip from NYC (designed) to Hong Kong (stitched) to NYC (delivered) to DC (currently). They were actually ready for pickup in late August, but the store in NYC said that they couldn’t ship them. Why? Because they were, yes, invaluable. Here’s what the store told me by phone, no joke: Since this is the only pair in the world like this, we can’t give the shipper an assigned value for insurance purposes. We couldn’t possibly replicate or replace them if anything happened. So you’ll just have to send someone to pick them up for you. Well, there you have it. My new kicks are one-of-a-kind and invaluably priceless. Thanks to Perls for getting them down to DC. And if you see Ginny or Ben wearing their pairs, tell them how much you like their designs, even if you really like mine best.
